Papertake Weekly

Just got really excited when I glanced at my blog countdown and saw that my birthday was 2 days away. However, quickly realised that the countdown is wrong as my birthday is actually on Thursday! What a tease?! Anyway, just a quick post from me today as I am keen to go continue playing at my craft table, I mean, dining table.....!

I originally made this card for last weeks Just Magnolia 'summer' challenge, however, I forgot to post it - doh! But, I've managed to find another suitable challenge to enter it in to - as the papers are downloads, I can enter it into this weeks Papertake Weekly challenge. Woohoo for challenges!

Goodie List........
Stamps:
Tilda as Butterfly by Magnolia, Sentiment by The Paper Co.
Paper: Mommy Modern by MandaBean.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) Copic markers and Spica pen.
Embellishments: Prima Flowers and Dew Drops.

Back to work tomorrow - boo hiss.... But all in all, I don't mind too much as at least I only have a 3 day week! It also helps that I have a birthday, several meals out AND a trip to the craft show in Newbury to look forward to! BTW, if anyone else is going and fancies meeting up, let me know!

Friday Sketchers 58

What a delightful day I've had! I've put in far too many hours at work recently and so took a well deserved day off today. I've spent my day crafting, singing along to some of my fave tunes and watching soppy films (I have a severe weakness for chick flicks!). Bliss!

For about the first time ever, I also managed to take part in a challenge on it's very first day! I couldn't resist this weeks Friday Sketchers sketch so decided to give it a bash.....

Goodie List........
Stamps: High Hopes 'Tidy Up Tillie' - From Dies to Die For.
Paper: Basic Grey 'Two Scoops', Bazzill CS.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.

Copic Colour Challenge 19

Can't believe we are on week 19 of the Copic Colour Challenge already. Also can't believe that it is my birthday a week tomorrow - woo-hoo! Is it sad/soppy that the thing I'm looking forward to most is meeting up with my lovely Mum for a shopping trip and some tasty lunch? My parent's still live on the Isle of Wight where I grew up so I can never just nip round to say hello, so I tend to miss them lots and get terribly excited when I'm due to see them. Not long to go now though :o)

This week on CCC, the colour combo is BV00, G00 and RV02. I majorly struggled with my card. It took me DAYS. I coloured 4 images and whilst they all looked pretty good, I could not for the life of me make a card out of them. I think the problem was that I bought a sheet of gorgeous Basic Grey 'Perhaps' paper at the weekend which was perfect for this colour combo. The only problem was that I couldn't find any other paper to match it so that forced me to make a 1 layer card - eek! Think I've solved the problem for the future though as I've spotted that Tracy (my saviour on many occasions!) has some yummy paper in this range at Dies to Die For. Guess where I'll be shopping on pay day?!

So here is what I finally settled on. Bit of a change in style for me, a bit more soft and feminine, a change from my usual bold and bright style. I'm pretty pleased with it though, especially considering that I went through hell to actually produce it! I has made me realise two things though...... 1) I must do faux stitching more often as I love the effect...... and 2) I am getting an addiction to Kraft cardstock!

Goodie List........
Stamps:
Sugar Nellie 'Bear Hug', Sentiment from the lovely Aimee!
Paper: Basic Grey 'Perhaps', Bazzill 'Kraft' cardstock.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.
Tools and Embellishments: Nestabilities, faux stitching, Prima flowers, embroidery thread and buttons from stash.

Hope all you fellow Copic users out there are able to join in this week!

P.S. For those that are interested, the blonde hair combo I discovered the other week was Y21, YR23, E33 and E35. Apparently I did write it down afterall!

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

What a lovely weekend Ali and I had! We were asked to do some mystery shopping and were lucky enough to get to stay here for the night. The room was totally gorgeous and we did a bit of exploring around the New Forest, which was really nice. Eating fish and chips on the quay in Lymington was a bit of a highlight, as was the visit to the lovely craft shop in Lyndhurst. They sell Copics and have a 'paper room'...... need I say more?!

Now, whilst I am late in sharing this card with you, I promise I did get it to my Dad on time! Although I didn't get to see him on the big day (Mum and Dad are still on the Isle of Wight), we did have a lengthy discussion on the phone about whether Michael Schumacher really is The Stig! I'm now pretty sure he isn't but I love the fact that he could be!

Right, back to my card.... this one is a bit of a Dies to Die For feast for you as both the stamps and the papers are available from Tracy's amazing shop. The image and sentiment I have used is from this fabulous My Favorite Things set, which is perfect for any man in your life. It's not just for father's day either as there are all sorts of sentiments which would cover you for most occasions.

Goodie List........
Stamps:
Let's Hear it For the Boys - MFT - From DTDF
Paper: October Afternoon - Nightlight Henry - From DTDF
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.
Embellishments: Silver brads and ribbon from stash.

Right, well I will be back tomorrow with my Copic Colour Challenge DT card! See you soon folks!

Sketch for You To Try

Well, you have all asked me what my great blonde combo is. I can now reveal that the colours I used were......? I can't remember. ARGH! I think they were something like Y21, YR23 and E33 or E35....All I know is that, 'that' is not the combo I used for this card as I actually made it BEFORE I made the blonde discovery! If only I could remember exactly what the blonde combination was.....!!!

Aren't these papers lip smackingly gorgeous?! I loves 'em. They are from the K & Co Citronella collection and they are available from the wonderful Tracy at Dies to Die For. For the layout of this card, I followed the SFYTT created by the incredibly talented Jen del Muro. I think it works perfect with these sunny papers! Cool sentiment too huh?!

Goodie List........
Stamps:
Rain, Snow and Shine by The Greeting Farm, Sassy sentiments by MFT.
Paper: K & Co - Citronella - Pinwheels from Dies to Die For.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black), Copic markers and Spica pen.

Have a great weekend my lovelies!

P.S. Just realised that the theme this week over at the ABC challenge blog is summer! Well, I think this card qualifies, don't you?!

Copic Colour Challenge 18

Can't wait for this week to be over.... Once it is over, work will go back to being nice and calm. I'll be able to drink coffee, eat biscuits and send the odd email - which is about a million miles away from how it has been for the last month or so!

So, as it is Wednesday, it's Copic Colour Challenge day again. I lurved the colours for this weeks challenge - R85, BG05 and Y15 - but then, I REALLY should like them as I picked them!

I'm so chuffed with my colouring on this one as I finally figured out the right colour combo for blonde hair - woohoo me! So, you can expect to see lots of blondies on my cards from now on!

Goodie List........
Stamps: Sugar Nellie - Gorjuss 'Little Goth Girl', Papermania sentiment.
Paper: Basic Grey 'Urban Prairie' and Bazzill Kraft.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black & Rich Cocoa) and Copic markers.
Embellishments: Prima flowers, Dew Drops and brads from stash.

Hope all of you Copic users out there get a chance to play along with my sunny colour combo this week!

It's Snow Time!

Whilst stroking my Miss Anya's lovingly this morning, I had a dawning realisation that I hadn't yet made a card with the gorgeous 'Snow' from the Rain, Snow and Shine set. I decided to put the situation right as quickly as possible!

After a tip off from my friend Sheila a couple of weeks ago, I went scouring my local TK Maxx for craft stuff. Sure enough, I found this gorgeous 12x12 pad of 48 papers for £5.99! That works out at about 12p per sheet! Bargainous, me thinks! Only problem is, it doesn't say anywhere on the pack or the individual sheet who makes the blinkin' stuff! From the style, my guess is K & Company, however if anyone know anything about it, please let me know!

Goodie List........
Stamps: The Greeting Farm - 'Rain, Snow & Shine' from Dies to Die For
Paper: Bazzill Kraft and.... your guess is as good as mine!
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black), Copic markers, Spica pen.
Tools & Embellishments: Card candy, Fiskars Apron Lace border punch, ribbon from stash.

Right, I'm off to have more crafty fun! Enjoy the lovely weather my lovelies!

High Hopes Challenge #34

Yippee! I finally made a card that I'm happy with! You know, I love that great feeling you get when it just 'works'! I also managed to take part in this weeks High Hopes Challenge which features a fabulous sketch by Nikki. Such a fab sketch too, this one is definately a keeper!

Isn't this image utterly adorable?! It was part of my winnings from a previous High Hopes challenge and I thought it was a perfect match for this fab paper. If you want to get your hands on this stamp or any other gorgeous High Hopes images, Dies to Die For have a wonderful selection.

Goodie List........
Stamps: High Hopes.
Paper: Cosmo Cricket 'Girl Friday', Bazzill 'Kraft' CS.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.
Embellishments: Embroidery thread.

Before I go, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while.... how do you all find the time to create such wonderful things?! What I mean is that life has been hectic with me lately and I haven't had the time (or energy!) to join in all the challenges and stuff that I have wanted to. However, everyone else seems to manage it.......! So, what are your top tips on how to organise and find the time?!

Copic Colour Challenge 17

Well, it's Wednesday again so it is time for the Copic Colour Challenge! This week we have a really lovely series of colours for you - Y23, RY11, BV04.

The rest of the team totally rocked this colour combo but I struggled a bit as I realised I don't really have any paper with any purple in it! To me, that was kinda the 'lead' colour so I got a bit fixated with it. Consequently, this monstrosity was created.......!

Just as with the last card, I love all of these elements individually, it just went wrong for me when I put them together! I utterly love this cutie pie stamp though, you can expect to see this set appearing a lot of the coming days/weeks. It's a CC Designs set which is available from Tracy at Dies to Die For. Can't wait to play with the other images!

Goodie List........
Stamps: CC Designs 'Olivia's Birdies' from Dies to Die For
Paper: DCWV and Core'dinations Cardstock.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.
Tools and Embellishments: Oval Nesties, Impress fence border die (£1.99!), adhesive gems and ribbon coloured with Copics.

Right, enough of my moaning, I promise I like the next card I will show you maginally better!

P.S. Actually, I take it all partly back, it looks better here (photographed!), than it does it real life. So I guess it isn't so bad after all! ~♥~

New toys to play with....!

You may be forgiven for thinking that I have totally dropped off a cliff. Well, I can confirm that I am still alive and kicking and have in fact managed to make 4 whole cards this weekend! I know, I was stunned too! Unfortunately, I am not massively happy with any of them but refuse to put them in the bin so will be sharing them with you in the coming days. My mojo appeared fine and they went together easily enough but I didn't get that "I'm satisfied" feeling at the end of them... very odd!

This was my first card of the weekend and I actually think it is the one I like the least, which I find weird as I love all of the individual elements! I've been after some Kraft CS and this American Crafts DP for ages and so was pleased to finally get my hands on some to have a play. It was also an opportunity to ink up this super cute Gorjuss girlie from set 2, a recent 'shared' purchase with my pal Sheila. In my head, this card wasn't going to look like this, it just didn't translate brilliantly!

Goodie List........
Stamps: Sugar Nellie - Gorjuss Set 2.
Paper: American Crafts 'Everyday', Bazzill Kraft CS, Core'dinations CS.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.
Embellishments: Card Candy, crochet flower and ribbon from stash.

Hope you have all had a great weekend and aren't missing those blisteringly hot days too much!

Copic Colour Challenge #16

Oh my word, I can't believe that it has been a whole week since my last post! To say things have been hectic is an understatement but I promise not to bore you with the details. Needless to say, I am absolutely fine, have had the will and the desire to create but unfortunately not the time! Consequently, my effort for this weeks Copic Colour Challenge was a little last minute.....!

The colours for this week are RV11, Y06 and E39. Typically, I didn't have these neopolitan ice cream themed colours so I picked my nearest shades. Don't you just love this image though?! Another High Hopes beauty from Tracy at Dies to Die For.

Goodie List........
Stamps: 'Tidy Up Tillie' by High Hopes, from Dies to Die For.
Paper: Stampin' Up! DP and Cardstock.
Ink & Colour: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Copic markers.
Tools and Embellishments: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Prima flower and Dew Drop.

I actually have nothing planned for this weekend so I am hoping to spend the weekend catching up and having a giant crafting sesh! Normal service should now resume ☺
