Dies to Die For DT Day

Hi all! Well, here I am, a day late for my DT day... a big thanks to Pops for covering for me! Picture the scene..... My card was all made and ready for sharing.....I made myself late for work because I was taking some last minute pictures of it.....I get to work, load up my photo-editor..... reach for my camera..... only to realise I'd left the lead at home! ARGH! Anyway, here I am, a day late, but better late than never, right?!

I really enjoyed making this card. Initially I messed up my colouring on the body. As I'd already coloured her head, I chopped it off (I know, I felt barbaric too!) and stuck it on the body of another Miss Anya in the set. Hey presto, you can't tell the difference :o)

Not only was it a joy to play with Miss Anya again, I got to stroke some American Crafts papers. Did you know that American Craft now do 6x6 pads?! Well they do and Tracy's got 'em - just follow the linkies below. There is only one work for them.... delish.

I have a few challenges that I'd like to enter this card into:

Art Impressions - Photo Inspiration
Digi Doodle - Anything Goes
The Stamp Man - Anything Goes/Summer Colours
Our Craft Lounge - Sunny Days

Anyway, enjoy the sunshine that we've been promised! It's still a bit murky here in Southampton, but there are signs of hope peaking through :o)

Die-ing for a Challenge #6

Gee... the middle of July! Where on earth are the weeks going?! One good thing about the middle of the month, however, is that we get a shiny new challenge over at Die-ing for a Challenge! This time around we have a fab sketch for you created by our lovely Hazel.
It's a bit of a classic, so there will be no excuse for all you CAS lovers not to have a go at this one! Anyway, want to see why I did with it? I have to admit, it is not one of my favourite cards, but I'm going to show it anyway as I believe that my blog should be a place where I share all of my crafting adventures... good and bad! So here we go....

Don't get me wrong, I love the CC Designs image, the pretty Echo Park papers and my beloved Die-Namic stars... I just can't quite get it all to work together! Oh well, you win some, you lose some! :o)

I really hope that you are able to join in our challenge. You have a month to hop on over to the Dies to Die For blog to get stuck in!

Redonkulous DT Card #7

Hello everyone! Don't panic, I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth again. I've just been crazy busy with work and weddings and my birthday and other lovely stuff. All good stuff, but doesn't leave me much time for getting crafty unfortunately.

However, I'm back today with a card I really enjoyed making.... another Redonkulous creation! Oh my, I just love Sheryl's images and this little baby boy is no exception!

One of my friends is having a little boy in a couple of months, so for once, I am super organised with the card!

Thanks for sticking with me, despite my erratic posting. Please do make sure that you visit the blogs of my Redonkulous Team-Mates for more gorgeousness!

Just Because...

Yippee! It's Friday! It's been a particularly challenging week at work, so I am super happy that it is nearly the weekend! The other great thing about Friday is that it is my turn to post on the DTDF blog :o)

I've taken a slightly different approach with today's card. You know you often get a plain design on the back of pretty papers? Well, other than using it to cover the base of my card blank, I don't often give these plain designs a lot of attention. However, these Authentique papers had such a pretty plain side that I decided to make them the focus of my card.

I think that the number of layers adds the detail needed to make up for the lack of pattern... what do you think?

Whilst I'm never going to abandon pretty papers entirely, I'm glad I gave the neglected reverse side a chance to shine :o)

Make a Wish

Hi all! It's Friday and that means that it is my day to show DT stuff over on the DTDF blog. What have I created this week? Yep, I've played with yet more more CC Designs images! Can't get enough of these beauties at the moment :)

And a little close-up of my pretty MFT Die-Namics butterflies....

You would not believe the issues I had with these blinkin' butterflies... Don't get me wrong - I love them. They are my favourite dies. So imagine my upset when I was holding the small one in my hand one second, only to lose it the next. I turned my craft room upside down looking for it. In a fit of rage, I got up and literally stomped my feet (hey, I'm an only child, I do that). I then wondered when that lump was in my slipper. Yes, you guessed it, it was my little butterfly die! The bit that is puzzling me is how it got down to the floor, up my trouser leg, down into my ankle high slipper boots and underneath my foot..... No idea, but just glad I found it!

Please tell me that these mishaps don't just happen to me?!

Challenges
Southern Girls - Things with Wings
Stampin for the Weekend - Bugs and Butterflies
PaperPlay - Back to Kraft Basics
Crafty Catz - Summertime
Emergency Crafters - Butterflies, Birds, Things with Wings
Totally Papercrafts - Doodle on It

Anyway, that's enough waffle from me, thanks for stopping by!

Morning all, with all of the chaos of last week, I realised that I didn't share with you a card I made for my DT day over on the DTDF blog! I scheduled it OK over there, but completely forgot to post it on my own blog - whoops! Anyway, here it is, better late than never ;)

I had lots of fun colouring this little lady. I'm well in to red at the moment, so this card gave me opportunity to exercise my latest fave.... even if the blinkin' stuff does bleed like crazy!

Oh dear...!

OK, so you've probably realised that day 5 and 6 are missing from my blog...! Annoyingly, whilst I have cards made and ready to share with you, the flaming computer broke and I couldn't get anything on or off of it. Grr. Anyway, Ali has decided we probably need a brand new one as all of the individual components have gone pop, which is a bit of a pain really. So, I've now switched back to the laptop and have found a photo editor thing which I'm finally happy with. It's nowhere near Photoshop, but it'll do me alright for now :o)

I pulled out one of my old digis from Spesch. I seriously love these digi images and they are so much fun to colour. Coupled with my lovely October Afternoon papers, I'm happy with this combo :o)

Challenges
DYSU - Friendly Critters.
Stampin for the Weekend - Ready Teddy Go.
Sweet Stampin - Dies and Doodles.
Paper Sundaes - Kraft and Dies.
Creative Card Crew - Kraft.

After my little blip, hopefully I will be back tomorrow!

Day 3 of 11...

Crikey, I missed my Copics....! I think I can safely say that they are the medium that I much prefer working with and I had great fun using them on this image.

Compared to yesterdays Saturated Canary card, I am much happier with my colouring on this card. I also fished out my old Whispers pens and used the really fine nib to add definition and depth to the colouring. I think it worked really well and I'll definitely be using this technique again. I like that I'm using otherwise discarded stash too!

Hope you are enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend,

Day 2 of 11...

Hi all! Well, today I'm back with something a bit unusual for me. It all started when I lent my friend my Prisma pencils to play with. She loved them and recently gave them back to me, with plans of purchasing her very own set. Being the untidy wretch that I am, they got added to the pile on the end of my craft desk. Well, yesterday, I tidied that very desk and got to thinking... how long ago was it that I last played with my Prismas? After a bit of pondering, I decided it must have been about 3 years ago. Yikes. That level of neglect is really naughty, especially as they weren't exactly what you'd call 'cheap'! So, I thought I'd whip them out and have a go.

So there you go. Not a Copic marker in sight! Am I pleased with my effort? Yes and no....

No - Because my colouring looks really amateurish and I am far too heavy handed to achieve that amazing fade-in-fade-out effect that so many of you have so beautifully perfected.

Yes - Because I actually stepped out of my comfort zone, played with some forgotten stash and wasn't thoroughly appalled by the effort. However, maybe that was more down to the cute image and fab papers and lovely embellies....!

Anyway, whilst I can promise that I won't be hanging up my Copics any time soon, it's nice to know I still have options!

My First Ever Redonkulous DT Card!

Hi all, I'm a bit excited today.... it's time for my first Redonkulous DT post! I was sent some lovely images to play with and decided to go with the digi called "Welcome Home Soldier". This image comes in three varieties - Canadian, US and UK. I have used the UK version because I'm obviously British! I've kept the rest of the layout pretty simple so that I could show off the fantastic image as much as possible.

As you can see, whilst this image is called "Welcome Home Soldier", I've actually used it more as a card which could be sent to a serviceman currently away from home or serving overseas.

Challenges:
Stamp with Fun - Not an Easter Card.
Simon Says Stamp - Favourite Tool (Dies! I used my Nesties for the sentiment)

Thanks for stopping by today. Make sure you visit the Redonkulous blog to check out the fab creations of my lovely teamies :o)

And here are a few little challenges included....

Creative Card Crew - Spring.
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes.
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle - Spring.

More Rediscovered Stash

Whilst flicking through my stamp folder, I spotted this lovely Greeting Farm Miss Anya. I can't believe that I have neglected all this stash for so long!

I've also managed to use some of this fab Basic Grey 'Granola' paper which I've had for years. I'm just gutted that my picture is so blinking awful! You can't even see the vellum on the big butterfly. I really need to get the PC sorted... grr!

I'm going for a few challenges for this one......
Allsorts - 3 in a Row (Butterflies and gems).
Basic Grey Challenges - Girlie (Granola DP).
Die-Ing for a Challenge - Brown & Blue (I've used MFT Die-Namics, available from DTDF).

Hope you are having a fab week,
